So glad to say goodbye to Hurricane Nate . My day started on the Anchor desk in New Orleans and ended covering the storm in Biloxi near where Nate made landfall. While it spared New Orleans it left quite East of the City where it hit Can’t wait to say farewell to Hurricane Season 2017 .

12 years later – wow – so much time has passed since Hurricane Katrina. I was on the ground in New Orleans reporting from the moment the storm made landfall and through the catastrophe that followed with the floods after the levees and flood walls failed . Prayers we won’t ever have to endure that ever again .

If you get to Emerils in New Orleans you have to try the Homemade Andouille and Boudin Sausages with Southern cooked greens, beer braised onions, whole grain mustard, emeril’s Worcestershire sauce- the best greens I’ve ever tasted!!!

Highly recommend this if it’s on the menu – this pork belly dish at Emerils restaurant in New Orleans with peppers, sweet pearl onions and smothered baby beans .

What’s for dinner – Gulf coast Tuna

Sunday night : yes you can fill up on delicious food and still be healthy. Gulf coast tuna infused with soy and wasabi marinade and rolled in black and white sesame seeds and then grilled . It was served on a bed of spring greens, cucumbers tomatoes and yellow peppers and sliced caramelized mangoes. Yumm!!

A must have when in New Orleans

Delicious !!! The only time I eat oysters is when I’m in South Louisiana . It’s the real deal in this part of the U.S . If you don’t want them raw then a must try is this way: these are chargrilled oysters with seasonings and served with bread. My go to spot is Dragos in Metairie but you can also find them on menus at other local restaurants .

Stepping up for a good cause

It was an honor serving as the emcee to announce the New Orleans 2017 Belles and Beaus!! They are the men and women who are doing extraordinary things in the community in the fight to find a cure for cancer ; some of them are cancer survivors, others are still battling it.

It’s also the kick-off to the fundraiser for the 2017 Belles and Beaus Ball Season! The ball is September 22nd at Mardi Gras World!

Another great fun day on Fox 8 Noon News. Love what Chef Michael Gulotta and his partners are doing with their new Maypop restaurant in New Orleans . The Asian and southern fusion dishes are delicious . Even better on weekends you can enjoy delicious Dim Sum brunches just like Toronto, San Francisco or New York. These dumplings also vary from traditional to exotic fillings like oxtail dumplings with daikon and black vinegar, octopus shumai with spicy mustard, and crabmeat and hogs head soup dumplings.
